The Battle of Los Angeles, also known as The Great Los Angeles Air Raid, is an event that occurred during World War II on February 24–25, 1942. The incident began when a large number of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) were spotted over the city of Los Angeles, California. The United States military responded by firing over 1,400 anti-aircraft shells at the objects, but they failed to hit any of them.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing "saucer-shaped" aircraft and "balls of fire" in the sky. The military claimed that the object was most likely a weather balloon, but many people believe that it was actually an alien spacecraft. Some even believe that the aliens were planning to invade Earth, but were thwarted by the military's response.
Whatever the truth may be, the Battle of Los Angeles is one of the most mysterious events in history.
